In place of the original straight-six, this El Camino is now fitted with a GM Performance 6.2-litre LS3 crate engine, producing up to 525bhp.The colour was also changed to its current dark green hue from the original 1960s Chevrolet palette. The bodywork was subtly changed with six inches taken out of the length behind the rear axle, and the exterior lines and interior mouldings around the loading bay all modified and smoothed accordingly.More than £120,000 was invested in the build, and the seller is confident there is simply not a better El Camino available in terms of condition and specification.Around four years ago, it was acquired by the most recent private owner, who commissioned Steve Harvey of Old School Speed in Farnborough to upgrade and restore the car to a remarkable standard.Built at the Fremont, California, factory in 1968, this El Camino rolled off the production line in 3.8-litre (230ci) six-cylinder guise.The car was treated to a comprehensive rotisserie restoration between 20, with components renewed or upgraded with improved performance and driveability in mind.Imported from the US more than seven years ago, it was first registered in the UK in March 2014.Up front is a 525bhp 6.2-litre LS3 V8 crate engine, coupled to a General Motors 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission.A stunning American custom, with a modern power upgrade, and bespoke bodywork and trim.
